Abstract

This study investigated the contribution of stress on college teachers' work performance. A total of 207 male and 93 female lecturers were sampled from a reputed university in South India and completed a structured questionnaire. The hypotheses were that occupational stress and coping styles would explain the performance of college teachers, and gender would affect occupational stress, coping styles, and college teachers' performance. There was a significant influence of occupational stress and coping styles on work performance. Male and female lecturers did not show any significant differences in occupational stress, coping styles, and work performance.
